New question here. Good cheap tire for road fixie?

Hello all, I recently got an old Nishiki off of eBay and have been having a blast riding around. However, on my last ride my rear tire blew out. It literally just tore through the sidewall. It nearly killed me. But anyway, I was thinking I should get some new tires but I want something that is 1) cheap, and 2) very durable. I want to ride these every day and care more about something that'll hold up and be flat-resistant than weight. Oh ya, it has to be a road tire too. I think right now i'm running a 700x23 and there isn't a lot of room in there but I could probably "modify" it a bit if needed . Anyway, if you could even let me know where they have a good deal on what you suggest that'd be awesome. Thanks a million!
