    gates center track belt drive

I have been thinking about doing the belt thing but not sure if the technology is ready for prime time yet.

How many miles do you have on your belt drive system and what sort of issues have you had with it?

Since 2009, 2 bikes with the 5 strand belt. Once setup correctly, no problems at all.

Eight months since I built my Misfit with the Center Track. Zero issues. After the initial break in, first ride, I had to pretension the belt and have not touched it since.

I have no personal experience with belt drive, but most of what I have read has not been good.

Glad to hear some saying it has worked well for them, though.

I'm going to stick with the tried and true simplicity of the roller chain

Have run a belt in various forms for ~5 years -- zero issues.

Currently running the Gates CenterTrack belt/cogs -- once aligned / set up, that's it. (at least for me)

They must work pretty well now. The winner and new record holder of the Tour Divide rode it all on a gates centretrack belt. 2750 miles in just over 16 days along the continental divide without problems is a good test I would say.
