    Fun Thur Afternoon Ride

I built up my wife's single speed a couple weeks ago, a converted Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo that a 34x20 gear fit's perfect on, and we have been doing a couple entry level rides to get it adjusted and so she can get used to the different climbing style.

She really likes it, and on the first ride she was already talking bringing a new Vulture into the fold

    Here are some pictures,

First batch is from last Sunday, day after the All Comers Meat 2, Alpine trail in Oakridge. She realized after this ride why wider bars a little better for SS'ing, she had a older Titec Ti 118 bar on that was 20" wide, no leverage at all. She did however love the 180 Race Face Cranks.

Pic's in order (I still haven't figured out this pic's posting thing)
    The Climb
The Overlook 1 & 2 looking East at the Cascades
North Fork and Kahlua (he doesn't go on rides anymore, 14 years old, but loves to hike)
North Fork trees down, I am worrie dmost of our trails are going to see a lot of this, as some later pictures will show.

    Enjoy.

    Short Flat Creek Loop

Our plan was to go do the entire loop, but two things put the plan in the toilet, first was MTNLRE had been sick for 3 days and didn't quite have the energy to SS all the way up the 6 miles of climb, second was the snow level dropping rapidly on us.

We switched out the bar to a Bontrager 24", w/1" rise to it, she felt a lot better going up and down hill.

This short loop was a lot of fun, not real long at only 8 miles but some good sampling of singletrack, cool double track and some interseting trail desctruction on the fitness trail along Salmon Creek.

    Pic's in order.
    A rare paved climb
Not for long as we hit a old double track climb
The top, bar's made it much easier to crank up the hill
The trail goes down that way, really...
A popular swimming hole, at least in the summer.

    and finally

The parking lot, comes complete with fish and a heated bathroom

The real reason we went up to Oakridge, The Trail Head Cafe, owned by David and Becky, a great finish to any ride.

When we drove into town we couldn't see the snow, by the time we pulled into the TH it was about the same height we had just been riding.

    More Flat Creek

This is actually the Fitness trail, on the other side of the river is Salmon Creek Trail a fun technical singletrack. But beer and dinner was calling our name so we headed back.

These pictures are of where the river decided to alternate it's course, I was glad I was just cruising along as we usually fly along this trail at night. It would have been a over the front, where did my wheel go experience.

    Were water goes in,

it has to come out and in the process it decided to reposition this bridge. rumor has it someone got $30k to replace this bridge. I heard later it was to work on a bunch of the trails replacing bridges, who knows.....

I tried to ride it but with the rain it was pretty slick and I made it about 10ft before sliding sideways.
