    Frankenbike Score!

Stopped by Houston Frankenbike today. If you are not familiar, this is a roving, 1 x month bike part swap/sell met. Here's my score...getting ready for my next build:

On One Inbred / 80mm Rigid For
    Specialized Ti BG Saddle
    Avid levers
    Richey Pro Post
    Richey Pro Stem
    Richey Pro Stem

Total? $85 Not too shabby!!! Any comments on the Inbred fork? Looks sweet! I got that for $25...yeah!

Been trying to get an On One fork for a few months, but On One is out. $25 is a great buy.

Nah, great stuff. The problem lies in the shorter length of the seatpost.

I'd say swank pick up. A little weird, maybe, cause you already have a rigid bike, but roll what you know, I guess. At least you didn't buy a bunch of 29er bits.

maybe you didnt notice umarth, but those brake levers are totally 29er specific.

i mentioned the seatpost just because you don't build a bike just so you can use a (e.g. 27.2mm diameter) seatpost. maybe you'll get lucky that your next frame will match that post, but yeah it is good if you know what you need right from the get go.

gotcha and i agree. i thought the post would fit my rocky mt blizz...but i think that's a 26.8. i pretty much cleaned the guy out and took the lot. the post is short and cheesy looking. OK - so what to hang em on...I want to do a Vassago Fisticuff...but in lieu of not finding a used one out there...any suggests on a similar type frame that I can throw mustache bars and road type 29ers for a monster type ss cyclocross / urban road machine??

actually, there's a used Fisticuff currently for sale on Houston Craigslist! it's a bit pricey for a Reynolds 520 frame, especially considering it's disc only and has no slotted disc tabs on the rear.

EDIT: nvm, i just did another search and it's not showing up on CL. i saw it just a few days ago and the guy said he'd take $220. oh well, too little too late.

i would look into the Salsa La Cruz if you want a 700c cyclocross style frame.
