Sigle speeder made the 40 mile race this I would say first and ever that I heard. He was against thousands of racers.

I was at that race. The course is very fast, winning average speed is usually around 17mph. The terrain is a bunch of rolling hills with one or two steep climbs. Fire roads, paved roads, dirt roads, and cross country skiing trails make up the course. Nothing tight or twisty. This race always draws max attendenace with 1800 racers in the 40 mile race. Previous race winners include Greg Lemond. Winning this race is hugh and doing it on a single speed is unheard of. The guys brother got 4 place overall riding a 29er single speed as well.
