    First Singlespeed Ride

Recently my wife has been shopping for a new roadie so I have been frequently in and out of the area shops watching her ride and helping her make the right pick. Selfishly I had also been shopping, just checking out what the shops had for a curious new ride for myself....a Singlespeed rigid 29er...The shop that she bought the bike from had a Redline Monocog 29er, last years model, on sale...so she and I got a bike.

I took it off-road on Sunday, a nice flowing trail with lots of roots, no real big climbs...a typical roller-coaster ride...

What a great ride. The simplicity, the silence.....That ride made me feel like a kid, i just jumped on the bike and rode. I cant wait to get more miles in!

sounds like you took the red pill. There's no going back now.

It's the best! Do you mind me asking how much you paid for your Monocog? I would like to get into a 29 myself and my LBS has one of these but I'm not sure what year it is.

I'm right there with you! I picked up my first singlespeed yesterday.

Rode her hard this morning and now I feel like I need a cigarette.
