    ENO and rear tire clearance

I ride a Litespeed HT converted ala ENO hub. Found out that depending on gearing and placement of rear wheel on this particular design with the bent in the chainstays larger tires will not fit. I had a 2.24 on the rear changed the chain and went to a 17 tooth freewheel and the tire was too close with the proper chain tension. Put my 2.1 on and its fine. Thought that was interesting and wondered if anyone had run into that. When using a new chain I like to leave a little length to adjust the ENO for when the chain stretches. Not complaining at all, just an observation.

Have you tried running with longer chain and tensioning by rotating the eccentric towards the back of the bike?

This method is a bit less convenient 'cause you have to use a wrench to hold the axle in place while you tighten the first bolt, but it does give you a bit more clearance. I've done this in the past and never had any problems.
