    Downieville Classic info

I am doing the Downieville Classic this year (first time) on my single speed. my question is what gearing is recomended (26") and what is the tire of choice? i currently run 36 x 19 and 2.3 maxxis ignitor ust tires.

I did it in 2005 on 26" @ 32:18 and in 2006 on 29" @ 32:20. The climb isn't anything crazy steep, but it doesn't let up for a while there and traction is a challenge in a few parts.

I'd go with a tire that can hook up in gravel and scree and handle the rocky section at the top of the descent and the odd ledgy rock outcropping on the faster singletrack sections lower down.
