    converting over

i want to convert my 8 speed to a single speed. i want to keep a dual ring set up on the front. is this possible?

what parts or kits should i got with?

i plan on using this bike for urban.

It's not a single speed if you've got two gear

More importantly, I'd rather have a rear derailleur than a front derailleur, AND you'd still need some kind of chain retention device on the rear (ie rear derailleur) to keep the chain from falling off when switching the two front rings.

IMO, either stay 8 speed or go SS.

if you leave you're derailleur on you can, but then its pointless, if you're looking to simplify, try going 1X8.
