    Converting 2008 Rockhopper 29er

Anyone done this? I have the "disc" model, base model, orange frame. I assume the frames were all the same for the model year 29'er RH's.

Any insight or suggestions? Was thinking of running 18t with the stock 32t middle chainring, taking off granny and using a bashguard. I've heard there have been some issues with the sliding dropouts on this frame too though.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

I have the 2009 singlespeed model, which I think has the same dropouts. I had some trouble with them until I replaced the stock bolts with some hardened steel ones from the local hardware store. No problems since.
