1. ## convert question

Confession: I don't have an SS right now.
Problem: I may be on an SS team at an 18 hour race 2 weekends from now.

I could rebuild the coverted 26" litespeed that ripped to pieces to sell, but I'd hate it since I'm a 29er now.

So I'm thinking I'll just convert the vert drop 29er for the race.

The qustion is this: What are the odds that the chain will tension perfectly without a tensioner, and then assuming it does not, what are the odds if a half link is introduced to the equation? I have the SS wheels already and an 18t FW. I'm waiting for a 32 tooth ring and a new chain though, so i can't test anything yet. Mostly I'm just antsy and looking for some thoughts.

If I do need a tensioner, should I go with a push down or push up? Figured I go with one of these two options:

2. Loving the Soul Craft Convert at this point. I have one on the Chameleon, and one on my Rocky Mountain Reaper. Other than the fact that they loosen up a couple of times throughout the first couple of rides, I've had no issues. Also, the convert uses the MRP guide and allows for some play on the chain.

Let's call "perfect" a chain sag of 1/2" - now that's loose!

(a) 1 in 34
(b) 1 in 17

If "perfect" is 1/4" then

(a) 1 in 100 (actually 1 in 125 but let's approximate it)
(b) 1 in 50
