    Conversion Time

So I have been wanting to do build up my first singlespeed. I bought a Trek 4300 for $100 to practice on and am going strip it bare. My question(s): what are the best conversion kits and techniques! As you can probably tell this is my first time!

There should be a sticky at the top of the forum somewhere for conversions. Pretty much take all gears off. Remove all chain rings bar 1. Take off cassette, add spacers and a cog, get the chain line correct, add chain (and tensioner if required) and ride.

As for kits - there are many out there. They all do the same thing. Find one and give it a shot.
