    That too!
I heard that the race promoter demanded an alcohol free family fun race environment though. Fun for all ages.

JK im sure it was a alcohol fueled blast.

Both! I'd say the worst part is letting go of disc brakes and full suspension, relying on the coaster brake. As soon as you get out there and ride on one you realize that it's not nearly as scary as you thought.

First I'll have to build up a coaster brake bike, sounds like a skidding good time.

Honestly, I think that would be an awesome event to run in Northern California. I live in SF now but the guys at College Cyclery in Sacramento would be the perfect group to get in on a race like that. I think you'd get a lot of flack for for the necessary skidding in the bay area, but in the valley or foothills somewhere you could absolutely find a suitable venue, and plenty of riders with cool old cruisers and klunkerz to race.

I have loads of friends up there, finding small loops and what not should be easy, I use google earth first and then go scout them out. And you don't want to skid, that means you're not stopping!

I'm thinking about doing this in San Jose. The problem is how to make this an event without the authorities deeming it "an event" if you know what I mean. Permits, waivers, etc. I've been there and done that and don't want to mess with it. Maybe just call it a "group ride"?

THANKS! I guess if we make it an "exhibition" or "group ride" I would be down to put it together, even do up the trophies. I would just need to promote the hell out of it. There are so many KOM fancy types in the NorCal section, I don't know how attendance would be.

I already have a bike I can use - it would require most people to build one or modify their cruiser. I'll post up a feeler in the NorCal section. Check it in a few!

I ran into the same problem, it's now a rally or skills clinic but never say "race" The only reason I charge money is I hand out shirts and patches, otherwise I'd just do it anyway. I do a satellite meet point and don't give the location out, this usually makes it too hard and too much work for bored cops and park rangers to hassle you.

Good idea. BTW, I wish I would've known about that retro headset you have a long time ago. Fantastic job.
