    Cheapest SS 9er

I'm looking to get a SS, and was wondering where I can find the cheapest? I don't care about good parts or any of that, as this will be more of an experimental bike that I want to find out if I like it or not.

or the Redline Monocog 29er. the entry-level monocog comes with rim brakes but it is disc-ready.

Alright, so I just remembered that I have access to an old cannondale mtn bike frame that I'll be able to use. It'll be a 26er, or 69er at best, but another question comes up. I realized that I'll have to get a crankset for it, so what gear ratio's are run? What size chainring should I run up front? Is there a general size that I should look for?
