    chainring inside or outside ?

    Hi...probably been discused before....
    Have a shimano crank (LX)...should I put the SS chainring on the inside or the outside of the tabs ?

    Whatever lines up best is were to put it. Mine is on the inside since I have a bashgaurd on the outside. I have this on both my SS.

    had mine on the outside of my xt's and didn't like how far out the chainline was so i put it on the inside.

    If you're running a cassette hub and can therefore dial your chainline in on the hub, then it doesn't really matter whether the chainring is on the inside or outside. That being said, I prefer it on the inside on my mtbs, as it gets it further inboard and away from your leg. On the road, I like it on the outside if possible, just looks better that way.

    But really, your first priority is getting a straight chainline.
