chain tugs on a thru bolt axle?

I have built a Redline Monocog 29er up pretty nice and have a set of Homebrewed chaintugs(and gears) on it with Salsa QR's, everytime I hit the brakes the rear tire slips and rubs the frame. I have tightened the QR almost to the breaking point and it still slips. I'm done with the QR and going back to a thru bolt, just wondering if I still need the chain tugs or not?
    Thanks Joe

i've been in the same boat a while ago, QR+tugs didn't work that well.
Bolt-on hub holds wheel without slipping.
With thru bolts chain tug is useful to get a chain tension you need
(you need a tug only on a drive side)
But if you can set a proper tension without it, you won't need it.

Thanks, I was thing just 1 on the drive side, might go ahead and use 2 for looks and to be sure the axle is square in the dropouts.
    Thanks again
