    Caught myself...

...riding my 1x9 last night like a single speed. I've gotten so used to riding my single speed and maintaining momemtum...and loving it by the way, that when I went out on my 1x9 last night, I kept catching myself riding in a 32x17 combo and really flying. Guess its time to sell the geared bike!

I'll definately be racing the SS next year!

Haha. I find myself doing that on anything with gears. Got back from a roadie this morning and, wondering why my knees were aching, realised I had not changed gears once. Now for the condroitin/glucosamine!

    I've had the opposite experience.

. Since I have been riding with guys on SS bikes, I've been shifting less and less. As a result I converted to SS. While riding tonight, I caught myself reaching over to downshift a couple times. I just grinned and stood up.

Yeah, on my last 2 geared rides, I spent 99% of my time in 1 gear. 42 X 26 (26) 'bout the same as 32 X 19 (26), with no chain slap. This is on a rollie course, with very little climbing.

I use the geared bike as a practice single speed too. In order to see what ratio I can comfortably push. (Comfort being a relative term, of course. )
