    Carver 96"er anyone?

Has anyone built up a Carver 96"er as a SS? Any pix? It looks like a sweet frame and the have a SS specific flavor without the bosses and der. ties. Also powder coated or ball burnished? The price is really good and I really like the idea of 26x29. I'm am out for an injury for a couple of months so building up one of these would be good therapy and help to keep my sanity.

looking around on Google it says the shipping weight of the frame is 30lbs by itself.. That seems a bit heavy if you're trying to have a light weight bike.

I don't know what stratispho is talking about.
Its an aluminum frame - likely in the four pound range.

I'd be all over that frame but I get sore ribs just thinking about riding a non-fully-suspended aluminum frame

I'm just quoting what was listed when I typed the frame in on Google... Guess it's another case of a bike shop charging a crap load for shipping a 5lb product....

Take a look at the pic on the Carver website, its not an internal headset.

Now this could be a good argument against the frame. Is the difference that noticeble between AL and steel?

    Here's my Baby....

Actually it's about 3 pounds 12 ounces. And no blasted internal headset will ever find it's way on one of our bikes....

UPS charges any package between 84" and 108" at 30 pounds....It doesn't really have much to do with all of us evil bike shop owners trying to rip everyone off.....

And yes, we also do a ti hardtail. The aluminum is $399.95, though. With 2.3 tires and nice cushy carbon bars, I only loosen a few fillings...

    Best,

    96er wheelsets

    Sure thing...

    We do ...

XT disc laced 3x to WTB SpeedDisc Trail....$200.00 pair
Rockworks SS disc Cassette hubs in Black laced 3x to WTB SpeedDisc Trail...180.00 pair

These are wheels we stock.. not superlight, straight guage DT with brass, but pretty much bombproof.

We also do custom 96er wheels with stan's ZTRs, Salsa, and a few others...

    Just e-mail me ...

Why? Just because they are hour glass head tubes you think they are internal only? You know nothing.
