Can I use the small loose cog of a cassette as a spacer?

Can I use the small loose cog of a cassette as a spacer? The cog I use for the SS has a little play 1-1.5mm. Do you think that matters? If yes is it ok to fix it like that? Thanks.

oughta work just fine, long as it's enough smaller that the chain isn't contacting it and riding up off your "in use" cog.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I thought I'd add that I did just that on mine because I needed to take up just a tad bit of slack that the Gusset spacers didn't cover. I actually ground the teeth down a bit with my angle grinder and gave it a cool look.
