    Breck Epic- Women's Singlespeed

If anyone cares to listen, I'm doing Breck Epic audio race reports for Mountain Bike Radio (there are some other interviews mixed in for days 1 & 2, but for stages 3 on, it'll just be me rambling about how much I'm dying). So far, Sara Sheets is winning by 4.5 minutes, I'm second, and we're trying to break each other.

Sara is a beast, I regularly lose to her at the local series up in Laramie! I dread the day she rides with gears, as I know the ass kicking will be even worse!

That she is... not only did we (in our admittedly exhausted states) ride harder today than we have on any of the other stages, but, as I've been trying to implement a strategy of "go really fast down hill," she's just gotten balls-out fast at chasing me downhill. Looking at Strava, I'm turning DH times similar to what Sue Haywood and Kate Aardal did when there was an "enduro" competition here two years ago. Today, that only netted me about a 200 yard advantage after several miles down the Colorado Trail. Mad respect for her for sure.

I just started riding a single speed in June, so I give y'all so much respect for doing what you do, as I know how much I was beat after 9 miles on my local trails with a SS. Makes me realize how unfit I really am! Crazy crazy girls... I think I'm more of a "stick to SS for short track and cyclocross" type of girl after my first few trail rides.

Mad props Andrea. You're kicking some serious rear end up there. How's Steve's bike doing for you? It sounds like it's treating you pretty good for a hard tail.

Wow. You rock. SS is hard. This race takes place almost entirely above 9000ft! #noair

We hardly have ANY places that high in the whole country and none of them you can ride on.
