Bonking ... not feelin' well Bottom Bracket Blues..

This probably belongs in Drivetrain but I figure there's enough overlap to get a reasonable response. My 2 year old Race Face taper lock is giving up the ghost and I need a new square taper BB. I know the Race Face is beautifully made with shinny red ano cups but is it really any more functional then the new Shimano UN-73. I remember the UN-72 used to last as least as long and it half the price.

Unlike the UN72, you can replace the bearings in the taperlock.

Your Raceface also has adjustable chainline. Nice feature to have for a SS. Dial it in!

    Smile Bottom Bracket Back On-line

Turned out the bottom bracket is okay, the "Taper Lock" came loose and just needed a quarter turn to tighten it up again. Still it's an interesting question since I have an EBB which allows for chainline adjustment and if one looks at the process for servicing the bearings I would say it's really not an option. Still they seem as tight as the first day i bought them so longevity seems very good.
