Best Single Speed Chain Tension / Chain Guide

I'm looking for the best (most reliable and durable) single speed chain tensioner. I've used the Forte Forté Single-Speed Conversion Kit - Performance Exclusive Mountain Bike Components one in the past and it works well initially but the spring gets too lose after about 6 months. Is that a common problem or do some last longer? Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Get creative and make your own! No spring necessary, really, as long as your ring is round i.e. no high spots.

I've had good luck with a Singleator, but always carry a zip tie since the spring disengaged internally once. The best system that I've seen is a Phil Wood "adjustable" bottom bracket.

Paul Component's Melvin is built well, looks a little bulky. But if you like to change your cog often, then you can avoid breaking the chain.

I just purchased this origin 8 chain tensioner. I'll be getting it this week. Seems good. I'll give feedback later after I take a few hard runs.

My LBS has the singleator so I'm going to give it a try
