Axle bolt options for a Paul WORD hub?

I have a Paul WORD disc rear hub, and was wondering if anyone is using anything other than the stock axle bolts? Is there anything that grips horizontals better? Just curious to see what others are using.

    Paul hubs

I am using the Paul WORD and FHUB disk hubs on my Surly 1X1 currently. I am using the stock bolts without any sliping problems, but I use tugnuts on mine. I've run it that way since day one. So far I have run into two other problems with the hubs:

    1. The rear hub keeps looseing up on me. I adjust it and 10 miles later it is loose again. (By loose I mean that I get a side to side play at the hub.)

    2. I cooked the grease out of the front hub the other day after some long steep downhills. I have an Avid 185 disk up front and I guess it generated enough heat to liquify the greese but I am still waiting on my LBS for the finial verdict on that one.

Im running the disc hubs and shve had no problems w/o tensioners- is your frame aluminum or steel? The bolds+brass spacers they supply seem to 'bite' into the aluminum pretty well for me at least....and I am a bigger guy (210) so I tend make some pretty good torque....

...using some blue locktite on that bearing adjusting nut. That worked for me to prevent the hub from developing that side to side play.

No comment on your front hub problem...seems strange that the grease would burn out of those sealed cartridge bearings.

I took the stock bolt to the hardware store and got another similar one, and got a matching serrated lockwasher and it works fine. but i use tuggers and the paint on my frame came off the bolt on area from removing the wheel a couple of times.
It's not a disc hub, though. not sure if that matters.

Those brass things suck. Try Phil Wood's

bolts and their axle ends. I took them off a Phil's hub that I have when the brass got cracked-enough that I couldn't use them any more. They worked nice.
