Here's some shots of a 952 and HBC spider-less ring. The Black and purple really looks good imo

That looks really nice! How do you do that? I have a couple Truvativ Stylo cranks, Can I do the same with those?

I've done this with many different cranks, rings, as well as most other components.

You've put a spiderless ring on most other components? I hope you didn't put one on your seatpost. Ouch!

That is perfect! Also the type of coating I'm looking for for the crank arms May I ask how much a refurb of a pair of arms costs?

I have one of these cranksets with a boone titanium ring.
Since the start, I've always had a little play no matter how much I tighten the ring. Nothing serious but it bugs me now. Anybody has any ideas why ?
I can post pics if needed.
More importantly, I'd like to use a sealed BB instead of the original one.
Newer Octalink BB have different splines and are not compatible.
Do you know if such a thing exists ?

kaiser2, send me a pm and I will give you more information on the Ceramikoat finish.

eric_syd, a picture would help. There shouldn't be any play at all in the ring/crank arm interface.

This is just the stock coating sanded down a bit.

Is there still a niche market for the XTR95x Series cranks, rings, and BB's? I have several sets of arms in stock, but only two with SS rings made by Homebrewed Comp several years ago. This set was hanging on the wall for a few years.

Garbaruk, we still intend to talk about your XTR 102bcd rings. We've been busy with other things, but still plan to work on our inventory turning them into 960 SS Mods this winter. We'll be in touch soon!

As someone still running an XTR 960 (crazy8 modded) on my SS, it would be great to see SS chainrings more readily available.

I have an XTR 950 crank set I pulled off my geared bike. Currently it just sitting. My concern is not on crank set or even chainrings (it has a 5 bolt spider on it) but for bottom brackets.

I still have one good Octalink 1 BB and another rebuildable one. However getting new ones .. Darn near impossible. This one reason I removed it from the bike. The other is that got replaced with a Next SL carbon crank.

I've still got a couple Octalink BB's in the box and several in good shape. I think there's a couple new XTR952 cranksets too.

I've got a few 102bcd rings in stock, but I'm going to need more to fit all the XTR960 cranks I have to do the SS mods on. I'm interested in Garbauks rings for these. They have all sizes of round, all the way down to 30t. Then they also have oval rings for the 960. They look interesting.
