Any good reason to not hack this dropout?

    Hey there-

I am sure this has been covered, but I could not find it via search. The dropout (hopefully) pictured is off an early 90s Hardrock.

It looks like I could take a hacksaw and make these dropouts functionally horizontal. Any reason why I should not do this? Thanks-

    Justin

try a rat-tail file, more control than the hacksaw. Have fun!

Go for it. Make sure you have a file handy, you'll prolly need it to finish the job off.

What about the other side, it probably does not have the extra hole, which is used to bolt those old cheap deraileur on.

Good thought. I checked last night and the non drive side is symetrical. OK, I am going to get a blade and some files and give this a shot... Will report back when finished. Thanks all for your help.
