    Any Good Ideas

Today I made my bike singlespeed but I need a chain tensioner. Does anyone know of a good way to make a homemade tensioner that would last a week or two until I can get a real one.

P.S. I have already tried using my old derailluer, but it wont work because my derailluer is bent and broken, which is why I went SS.

If you have an old small chainring, you could try the "ghost ring" method.

    Hey:

Try looking around, your local bike shop probaly has something you could have for little money or free, yard sales, junk yards, usually have junk bike for 5 or 10 bucks or free. You can find an old derailer somewhere that will work for a chain tensioner.

if you have an extra mid-ring you can use it as a 'ghost ring' to get by.

there are pictures around here somewhere...you might need to search...

I think ill try out the ghost ring when i get soem free time.

Is that suitable for urban riding or should i wait until i get a real tensioner before i go out urban riding again?
