    Another Gear Ratio Question

    After test riding a Bianchi San Jose and checking out the action @ a local MTB race over the weekend I am thinking about trying SS. I run a compact crankset on my road bike 50/34 with a 11x25 rear. What combo is equivalent to 42x16 or 42x 17 which is standard on the San Jose. My FS MTB I think is just to heavy to get a good feel for SS, although I did do the entire race in the middle chainring because the conditions were ultra muddy and I didn't want to throw the chain.

    Thanks for the links. Rode about 20 this evening in 50x25 but could not stop myself from shifting the RD. So basically it was my first 1x9 ride I guess. The hills were harder and I did see higher HR values than normally where I would usually sit and spin.
