    advice needed? what to buy?

    here are my options:

    1. convert a cano F7 frame into a single speed 26in - 375.00 in parts

    2. purchase from bikesdirect.com - 29in stout or outcast - 499.00

    3. purchase a redline monocog 29in - 499.00

not sure what to do.... i love putting bikes together (probably more than i like riding)
    but need help...

originally i wanted to only spend 200 bucks total and fix up the extra frame....

    thanks in advance....

Get the Redline. I love mine. The chain tension system is simple and very effective. I have seen other single speeders with massive chain tension issues. The Redline however...

you can be happy with a $200 clunker, but you'll be soooo much happier (not to mention a better rider) with the $500 bike. Spend the money now rather than later, it's worth it.

    one more question....

the difference between the redline flight mono and regular mono frame - is it that much of a difference?

i know it has the better brakes/hubs and what not but the frame itself.....

is there that much of a difference between Sanko Cromoly Double Butted 135mm spacing.
and a Full Cromoly, 135mm Spacing With Disc Tabs.

im not familiar with the 2 differences...

a new bike for $200 is guaranteed to be crap... that's Target/WalMart level

a used bike for $200 could be a great bike with lots of life left. Bargains are certainly out there. I recently saw a monocog near me that had been upgraded with a Reba and was selling for 300-400ish on craigslist.

On another note, what does your upgrade list for the F7 include? That seems expensive for just an SS conversion

Flight is lighter and possibly a bit smoother riding. Sliding dropouts on the Flight can be nicer and easier to use than the track ends on the regular Mono

    Ahh, that makes sense.

I would be very careful about buying from ebay too, that is why I mentioned craigslist. If you have a good one in the general area it can easily be worth it even to drive 2 hours away to get a bike for half of what it cost new. Besides that the only thing it takes is patience to watch for a deal as good ones usually aren't constantly available but they pop up here and there
