    Adjusting chain tension

Those of you with sliding dropouts or fork ends, how often do you find yourselves adjusting your chain tension? There is noticeable slack in my chain after 1-2 rides; do you thing this is just chain stretch or do I need to tighten the dropout bolts more?

Also, suggestions for a good backup/replacement chain? right now I've just got the stock 9spd KMC chain on it.

    Thanks!

Your dropouts are probably moving. I'd get a chain tug from ISAR.

I think I just used up my only available rep-ability on you. I expect some quality borderline appropriate content from your corner. **** me, this is one step away from Spacebook and I said I'd never.

Your chain won't stretch that much in the short-term. Check your bolts.

I have track ends on two bikes, and I use these Redline chain tensioners on them:
On my other bike, the sliding-dropout loosened up a few times, so I ended up replacing the bolts with some nicer stainless-steel ones. Not sure why it made a difference, but they haven't loosened since.

I've run Sram PC-1 chains on all of my singlespeeds for years; some people here don't seem to like them, but I've never had any problems.

You were early on my list to up because of your frequent use of asterisks in the place of actual words. I have to like another 100 users before I can say you are pretty again. A daunting task, but I am considering spending an afternoon on a picture thread on the 29er forum, reppin' those who have posted photos so they feel better about their clean bikes and shoddy camera work.
