3 bolts on a Fixed Cog?

Im doing the DIY bolt on fixed cog. the cog i am using is from a cassette and it already has 3 holes that line up with the disk bolts perfectly. the other three are off and are going to be a real pain to drill out correctly. Do you think i can get away with using just the 3 that already fit?

I'd say no.

Nico Vouilloz raced with 4 bolts on one of his disc brakes. 4 out of six.
I'm sure if he thought he could've gotten away with 3 he would have.
While the designed strength requirements are inherently overbuilt, the interface was never intended for use as a drive gear, only as a brake mounting point (one of 2).
You might be fine or you might not, but my 2 cents is this- if it's the only gear AND one of your brakes all in one? don't shortchange how it's attached to the rest of your ride.

i think your biggest problem is going to be using a cassette cog. ramps and short teeth for a fixie is not a great idea. Get a tomicog.

byknuts and ISAR have said it all... Don't do it. I ride fixed, and I only use dedicated, non-ramped, high-toothed cogs installed in the correct way (i.e. either using six bolts or using the traditional right-hand thread+lockring mechanism).

ok... thats sort of what i was thinking. i went ahead and ordered me up the Tomicog. pretty psyched. fixed gear mountain biking here i come.

This would have been the quickest way to answer OP's question..with another question..would you run a rotor with 3 bolts? Or would you use 3 lug nuts on your 6 lug truck wheels? I think not sir. I think not.
