2010 Gary Fisher RIG SS owners?

What rear brake are you running?

I ask because.... I had a 2008 and somehow bent the rear triangle. Trek sent me out a new 2010 (very purty BTW), but when I built it up and rode it, the rear brake is howling like a banshee and setting up a wicked vibration through the whole bike. Bad enough to make me want to pitch the b!tch in a dumpster.

    Rotor bolts tight? Check
Adaptor and all other bolts tight? Check
Pads clean? Check (tried both new metallic and new organic and no help there)
    Rotor clean? Check

I'm out of ideas and have garaged the bike because it is NO fun to ride. Hoping some other 2010 Rig SS owners can chime in.

(edit) should have mentioned - brakes are Juicy 7's which were quiet on the '08 Rig

    thx

What brakes are you using? Switching from Hydraulics to some BB-7's might help.

I run a BB 7 , I would say that the setup of yours may be the problem . Recentering the caliper and chamfering the pads may help .

I installed a set of Elixirs on my Rig, and am experiencing a similar phenomenon.

I'm sure it's mentioned throughout the thread, but on the last page, Pedalphile mentions filing down uneven edges in the rotor vents.

    I'm going to try this.
