    $1600 question

If you had $1200-$1600 to drop right now on a new bike what would you do?

Build your own bike. Not for everyone, but certainly as a member of MTBR, you can do it. Need help, research and ask!

I was in the same boat.

    Bought a Monocog 29er for $450.

    Couldn't be happier...

I now have $1000 leftover to fix what breaks or upgrade what I don't like about the bike, which is nothing so far.

Buy a Raleigh XXIX, and then use the rest for a road trip to somewhere you've never ridden before

umm... unless something had made my old bike unrideable, I would pay a months rent and bills and take three weeks off of work for an extended self-supported mountain bike tour.

I would get a on-one scandal 29er and build something sweet around it.
