Bike build - Question 2 - Steerer length

Another question or more of a "please check my math".

I have frame with 125mm head tube. The headset stack is 30.3mm. Stem clamp stack is 40mm. That all comes to 195.3mm (~7.7"). So if I were to look for an used fork, I need the steerer tube to be at least 7.7", correct? Or am I missing something?

I'd have to agree with Jeffj, but not just for spacers, but also because 40mm may not be the height of the stem clamp you use. I've seen them go from 40mm to 50mm (with more stem angle).
