Is it possible to install a flip flop hub on a Surly Pacer to convert it to a single speed bike? If so, what parts would be needed to do this? Also, what crank would be the best to use in this conversion. Thanks for any/all suggestions.
Yes, but due to the vertical dropouts you'll either need to find a "magic gear" or use a chain tensioner. You could use the same crank that's already on the bike if you wanted to by removing 1 ring (or installing another) and using single ring chainring bolts.
Thanks for your reply. I received info. regarding a White Industries ENO Single Speed Rear Hub. That may be the "magic gear" you spoke of as it advertises that it eliminates the need for a chain tensioner.
