I am looking into a used bike to get the gf riding. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the link below. Is it a decent enough deal?
I am planing on going to test it out tonight, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Looks to be a 2007 or 2008 model. Bicycle Blue Book values it at $173 in like new condition. The wheels aren't a huge upgrade but add a few bucks to that and you probably have a bike value that tops out at around $200 but I would be more comfortable at the $175 range considering the age and stuff that will have to be replaced or tuned.
Before I look at used bikes, I will check the bearings on either the headtube, crank, or axels...it's a gimme of how well they REALLY took care of the bike. It does appear in good condition. From the pictures alone, I would say $299 is a little high, but $200-250 seems fair and suitable as a first bike for the gf.
Thanks for the advice! I haven't ever bought a used bike, so I don't know exactly what to look for. For the past month or so she has been riding her roommates trek 4300, but now she has decided she wants to get her own bike.
I spoke with the gentlemen selling the bike and he is unwilling to negotiate on the price at all so I will have to keep looking.
Thanks again for all the advice
