I have a Canadian riding buddy who wants to live in the southwest during the winter and he is interested in a place near N Mesa/N Apache area; 1 acre; near the outskirts; or bordering the Superstition mtns.

He has asked me if I know anything about the area and I am clueless. Do any non TD haters live out there that could give me an idea if my 67 year old buddy could find a nice short sale residence out there?

Does Sherriff Joe take care of that area?

Wide variety of homes and properties out that way.... everything from trailers to mansions. That side of the Phx metro area is great for outdoor lovers... close to hiking, biking, and horse trails. For summer fun, the string of lakes along the Salt River is right there. And of course, the Superstition wilderness is essentially in their backyards.

I am at Ellsworth and Brown, just bought a short sale in January and moved out here. Just a few miles east of me there are acre lots bordering on the national forest, right at the base of some Usery mountain on the south side. Lots of them still have trailers on them but many of the trailers have been/are being replaced by houses. I am still Maricopa county, not sure where the cutoff is.

how close to riding do you want to be? out your door or 10-15 min drive?

cheaper and wider variety of property, trailers, ranches or houses as you move further out in Mesa towards Apache Junction. Plenty of McMansions too, just depends on the neighborhood.

TD--lol on the "non TD haters." As my grandmonther used to say, "FTITCTAJ." Now, Gold Canyn may fit the bill. It's a bit further east than AJ (~5 miles), but we have a wonderful growing system of singletrack in the backyard and we're spitting distance from the Superstitions (3 miles from my front door to the wilderness boundary). I'll be happy to provide more info.

Hi: Transition Senior here, from Merritt BC.
We're looking for a .5 to 1.5 acre property with a 3bdrm 2 bath home of recent vintage; good quality, good neighborhood (no trailers next door) and with a garage preferably; don't need a pool, nor horse amenities. I freeride mostly; like Hawes and S Mtn; but ride alot with Trail Doc in Sedona; and like Tucson area: Milagrosa etc. Also want to spend more time on the Arizona Trail next winter. I come down in November and stay until April; have a motorhome to get around to different riding areas, and boondock mostly.

What I really need, and you sound ideal because of your recent purchase, and plumbing profession,. is to find someone who could view a house or 2 with my Realtor; in that N Mesa/N AJ area. I'd be glad to pay/barter.............and of course host you when you come to BC to ride. see "Merritt Mountain Biking Association" site; Escorted Rides; new thing I'm doing this summer to promote our area and help visiting riders.
Could you email me at

darchoborne@hotmail.com if you could help me. I want to buy this Spring if possible. Prompt response is needed to most of the New Listings as there quite a few buyers for good deals, as you know.

I'm using Bob from C21 Foothills; and have been quite pleased; but maybe you have someone better?

Thanks for your assistance.

Darch Oborne

I ride a Transition Covert, tricked out pretty nicely; a bit heavy for climbing (I'm 66) but nice payback down.

Hi: Its Transition Senior here: aka Darch Oborne, of Merritt BC.
I'm looking to buy a .5 to 1.5 acre property with a recent 3 bdrm 2 bath good quality home; with a good neighborhood, and decent neighbors; minimal noise, and I've been looking in the N Mesa/N Apache Junction area.

But, your promotion of GoldCanyon intrigues me. While I like to freeride (Transition Covert) I do like to trail build also; have learned a bit from the maestro, Trail Doc, of Sedona. I help visiting bikers to our area with tours (see Merritt Mountain Biking assoc; guided tours) as so many folks, like TD, have been so kind to me when I ride around the US and Cda.

What I need, in addition to meeting riders in the Phoenix area, is someone to help me by occassionally viewing a property recommended by my Realtor, Bob More of C21, Foothills. I can pay, or offer barter; and offer to host you when you come to ride the steep 'n deep here in BC!

If you are game to assist me from time to time, please let me know. Otherwise perhaps we can ride when I'm down next winter. I have a motorhome to visit other areas, and like to ride Tucson and sedona: La Milagrosa, and Highline............favorite at S Mtn so far is up Mormon and National, and down either National or Corona.

Hope to have a reply to darchoborne@hotmail.com

Cheers.
Darch

Give him this link.

BTW There are no nice short sales for a Canadian who want's to BUY in Arizona. Tell him not to even bother with a short sale. Tell him to BRING "cash' if he want's a quick response..as in no mortgage or financing delays.
