Have any of you desert dwellers used recycled rubber landscaping mulch? I have a 20x24 area that I've framed for a play area and I'm having trouble making the decision because it's EXPENSIVE ($900). Has anyone used this stuff? Is it worth it?
Don't know if it's the same brand but my friends have some that is shredded tires painted green. Can't walk on it in the summer, It gets sooo hot.
I've got sand in mine, laid down 2 layers of landscape fabric perpindicular to each other and no troubles in five+ years w/ weeds.
If it were me I would look at getting the rubberized padding that is layed down at city and neighborhood parks. It is very durable and still soft enough that falls from swing ect don't hurt too bad. That mulch seems like it would get spread around the yard in no time. I'm not sure of the cost though.
I have about 300 used bike tires and boxes of tubes you can grind up and use in your backyard - I will sell the whole lot for 500 bucks to save you a little money
