Do you use a bash guard on your single speed? I looked through some of the photo threads and it's a mixed bag. What's your take?
I do have one of the coolest bashguards I have ever seen. It's on an extra set of cranks that are hanging on the wall right now. Might use it on a 69er build I am contemplating.cruzthepug said:Do you use a bash guard on your single speed? I looked through some of the photo threads and it's a mixed bag. What's your take?

great quote. I almost stole it for my sig. I'll let some one else grab it.
I was planning on a 2X9 setup for my colorado trip but decided against it. My "spinny" muscles don't work that well anymore.Gearsequalqueers said:nice derailier
Only a bashguard worthy of Fo would come all the way from a custom shop in isreal.:thumbsup:FoShizzle said:sweet bash! and sweet Helix action on the Downtube
A wider bb spindle would solve that. running one on the inside is possible if it clears the chainstay. biggest downside though is that if you bend it like enel did above, only to the inside, you could end up with some serious frame damage. bashrings tend to be a bit beefier than chain rings.GTscoob said:I want one but my chainline is off on my 1x1 rear hub if I dont put my ring on the outermost position. Has anyone run a bashguard on the inner ring position? Or better yet, is there an BB mounted bashguard that is stationary? The only ones I've seen are components of a fancy chainguide system and I really just want the lower piece.
my guess is that he rotates the bashguard regularly to spread out the carnage and get more life out of the bashjonowee said:How did you manage chew up the bashguard outside of spots parallel with the cranks?
Correct. Also, when I screw up this move as I do most of the time, a sharp spine of rock goes directly in the chainring.boomn said:my guess is that he rotates the bashguard regularly to spread out the carnage and get more life out of the bash
show off. long chainstayed bike could never do that moveEnel said:Correct. Also, when I screw up this move as I do most of the time, a sharp spine of rock goes directly in the chainring.
they do in general though Enel's 29ers have shorter chainstays than any 26er even hasVelokid1 said:Does a 29er have longer chainstays?
