Im new to single speed mtb'n and mtb'n in general. Ive always rode bmx street/trails/park
So the idea of single speed makes sense to me. I always rode profile 180-182mm crank arms.
What am I looking into buying for my large sir9 with my 33'' inseam (not pant) leg 6'2'' ass....
175 is a decent general length. If you are going to ride mountain in lots of technical terrain or DH, I would say go shorter (165)... more pedal clearance, and you won't need as much leverage to push the shorter gear. If you are doing lots of climbing, or riding mostly XC type singletrack, it wouldn't be a problem to stay with the 180mm length you are used to.
waht type of riding are you thinking of doing? have you worked out a gear ratio because 42 :16 wont really cut it off road(neither will a micro drive like 25 to 9)
