I used Hayes adapters on my Shimano. I've also tried, the A2Z and Simano adapters, all with good success. At first, i tried using the Avid's and filing them down, but I was unable to get them perfectly flat/even which made adjustment a pain.
I may not have been clear in my post above. I use Hayes, A2Z and Shimano post mount 180 rotors with no issue on Deore, Deore LX and Tektro Aquilla hydros. The Hayes are fairly cheap as are the A2Z. I prefer the Hayes as the caliper sits perfect. The Shimano fits perfect as well, but are more expensive (3 to 4 times) and the design moves the caliper lower on the fork requiring a slightly longer hose. The A2Z work, but they are just 2 bolts so I find the caliper sits outward a bit on the top, meaning the pads are not in the same postion on the rotor as the Shimano or Hayes.
Let me know if there are still post mount questions.
