is marz still curently trading in forks? To day i just witnessed the second exr comp exlopde. Im mean there was shrapenel. I have mine just siting in my garage thank god. I was thinking if i could send it in for a DJ 1. of course im expecting to pay atleast 175 dollars plus trade in but will they do that? It was #$%^ing scary watching my buddies fork just explode. I thought he was dead. lucky he only hurt his pride. I was seriously thinking of put it back on the bike but now after seeing a second exr comp destroyed im kinda leaning against it. The forks were the same year as mine. The jump wasn't big ither. it was about 3 feet hight n boots you about 5 feet into the air to land on a realy nice down slopeabout 10 to 15 feet down. and he landed rear tire first. so i don't see how it blew up but it did. but i hope marz will do somthing about their forks.

HAHAHAHAH good!, i have an exr comp, and i cant wait till it explodes!, i can do it anytime i want, its not marzocchi's fault, its his, an exr comp isnt made for jumping, but we do it anyways, i recently blew up a Junior T.
Im gettting a 2003 junior T soon, yes it blows, so does an EXR comp./
well then why do they come on jumping bikes then? i have a jrt on my P2 and i just blew a seal off/ but its the original seal. iv made my fox rc blow up (rear)

That is a good question. The answer is that to a prod manager it is a cheap fork with 4" of travel and a name that people look for on "hardcore" bikes. Marzocchi keeps making a bit deal about how these are not freeride forks, do not jump with them, blah, blah, blah. If you want a bike less that $1000 that is what you will get.
This one went just testing some new pedals and bunnyhopping in the street... it saw alot of abuse, though.

my junior T blew up from the stanchion being cracked, 2001 ( 30 mm )
they come on the p.2, to keep the price down.
the BB's suck on them too,i just got a new one do to breakadge
the p.2 is still a good deal tho.
thats what happened to the first fork i saw. i wish i had a camera i would have taken a pict the was like nothing left ot this one. the crown like flew and it was like some one spit the fork in half with a saw.

Yeah, I believe it. This one (wasn't mine, although that is my leg ) saw tons of abuse but bit it fairly safely. It ruined a weekend of riding, though.
But don't blame Marz, they seem to really hate that manufacturers spec these forks (which, I believe, is why they made the Dirt Jam). More of the blame resides on the companies that spec em (Specialized, Kona, Haro, almost all the big ones).
The fact of the matter is that freeriding is really hard on parts and it is expensive. So stores need to tell kids (and their parents) that the new $800 bike they bought might not be safe for what junior will do to it and getting a better fork should be first priority.
iv only riden my exr once then i put my jrt on my p2 becuse its much smoother and a way better fork than the exr. but its **** compared to the super t i have on my norco. i would like to get back to an Sc fork on my HT becuse i don't need my jrt because i use th P2 for mostly urban and jumping...i do use it for trial riding and drops to but it mostly sees the street.
The EXR is not a downhill fork. The EXR is not a freeride fork. The EXR is not a dirt jumping fork. The EXR is a cross country fork. If you are doing what you described above, it is no mystery why the fork failed. The fork is speced on cheap bikes because the fork is cheap. Marzocchi will sell x amount of OEM forks to whatever manufacturer. Whatever the manufacturer does with them, IE puts them on road bikes, or XC mountain bikes, or freeride bikes, is up to the manufacturer. They are to blame, not marzocchi.
i realise that JM that is why i am not using this fork and is why it is sitting in my garage. The question was would marz trade in my fork which i don't use for somthing better with of course the expected added amount of money to make up the difference. Ive told my friends that it is not an FR/DJ fork but they don't listen so i don't care weather mraz warinties thier forks or not. I just want to know if marz will let met trade it in and if any one else has done this.
if you guys dont want to ride them, send them to me...ill take that XC fork and put it on my XC bike, and ride XC on that bike, and on the way back from the XC trails, ima huck a XC sized drop...about 8 feet. and then im ride home on my new XC FR bike and repeat the process until i get my XC bike to the level of a DH bike...and then im going to go and DJ. lalalallalalallalalalllalalalalala( boredom kills threads)
I believe Marzocchi outsourced the production of the EXR's and MX comps to be made by Suntour, and are not actually made by marzocchi. they just supplied the castings to make the "M" lowers.
I really don't know about their trade in program, I would suggest contacting them directly.
And, yeah they do seem to be spec'ed on a lot f dj bikes- Giant STP for another example. and even Ryan Leech runs EXR's on his Norco.
