I'm new to freeriding, maybe this should be in the beginners forum? Anyway, I'm up to 3 1/2 foot drops to flat. I know that drops with landings can allow you to do much higher drops on shorter or no travel bikes, like my pos hardtail. I want to go higher, but have never really done a drop with a hill/landing at the bottom, is it any different? If you dropped something with a landing the same way you would a drop to flat, wouldn't you lant way on your back tire? How do you do a drop with a landing
try to match the wheels to the angle of the tranny... think of a long jump skier and how they land... they just float down the hill after a rediculas jump, try to land smoothly like that. its okay to land rear wheel first a little bit, in my experiance this hasn't really F'd me up to bad, but its more for landing to flat stuff. with practice you'll learn how to land on trannies and you can do fairly high drops on a hardtail without killin yourself. '
ya just try to match the landing, and landing back tire first isn't that bad to a certain extent. Once you do a couple of them you'll get the hang of it.
Any drops under 6 or 7 feet to trannys are quite hard to align the wheels with the ground, you just dont have enough time to do it. So if your landing on a slightly angled tranny, just land with your wheels even, or a little on your back wheel. If your landing steeper, nosedive a little and keep your weight back.
