Initial impressions of the PIKE:
- it is stiff, comprable to the Z1 it replacted (2004 Z1 FR QR)
- it is over a pound lighter
- it needs the X-firm springs to tote my big a$$ around (fortunately those came today as well, just need to install)
- Axle to crown feels about the same as my 130mm Z1 despite the additional 10mm of travel.
Initial impression of the EA70:
-Dang, 57mm of stack height
Not yet, but I am gonna hit a trail tomorrow that will test this things limits for damping speed.
CH, you're looking at it. But around this forum it is refered to as a trail bike. I would like to have a bighit rig, but most likely wouldn't ride it much. I have started collecting parts to build up a Sinister Ridge this winter for my burly bike.
Hammered it down Dead Campers in Santa Cruz this morning. No complaints. It went everywhere I pointed it and didn't pack up at all. I gapped down a couple of section I normally roll. Overall for a RS I am impressed.
Climbing was also very nice with the adjustable platform. It functions simillar to a fox blowoff valve, but is a bit more plush prior to the threshold. A huge improvement over the ETA for trail chatter when the fork is locked. I was able to match it up with the 5th pretty easily and the bike really seamed to work well.
