So after getting 6 flats in 2 rides:madman: I decided to go tubeless, ghetto style. Went for my first tubeless ride today and have to say it was different. I used to run 40psi in the front and 29psi in the rear. Today I ran 40 in the front and 35 in the rear. For some reason it felt like the rear tire was hooking up MUCH better. I guess its because the air is more evenly distributed throughout the tire. :???:
So here is my question to everyone.
What tires are you running?
What psi do you run front and back?
Do you run tubeless/tubed?
You would think so but I rode 29 psi in the rear for over a year w/o a pinch. Doesn't matter now, I'm done with tubes.
wow - i think you may be the first person i've ever heard of running more psi up front, and 10+ psi at that
When i ran more in the rear i always spun out on the techie stuff, and when i ran less in the front it always felt like the sidewall was folding over on the turns.
hey RY! the bigger volume of the tire, the less pressure you can get away with. also depends on whether you are a trail buster, or a finesse rider. rear boing helps which i know you have. i pinch flatted a ghetto tubless 2.1 tire on a crisp edged flat rock on a 1 foot drop off at 35 lbs. psi. i weigh 170 and yeah, the rim cut clear thru my tire! i typically ran 32 front 35 rear. that was great all the rest of the time. also, lower pressures on some front tires wont support the side knobs. result? the knobs fold over on a turn and leave you looking at the sky :eekster: some tires will burp on you if pressures are too low, if you know what that means :cornut:
Tubes suck! Dale called me "sir flatsalot" at one time. I had a huge blow out just sitting there one time. Dale and I sitting there minding our own business and BAM! The tire blew off the rim without a warning.

I have Bontrager Duster rims (tubeless-29er) with Bontrager Jones XR on front and XDX TLR on rear. I weigh about 165 lbs and I run them with about 25 psi both front and rear. Never had pinch flat issues.

Thats funny, It reminds me of a time I was riding behind a friend on a flat smooth stretch of hardpack and for no reason his rear tire just blew out and sent dirt flying in the air. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen on a trail. It looked like a drag cars exhaust! Thats the only way i can describe it.
WTB Weirwolf 2.3 in front, Mutano Raptor 2.4 in back....ghetto tubeless, pipe tape method with stans fluid; all on stock bontrager select rims.
I'm running a little higher in back, a little looser in front for best results on the kitty litter....finding 25-30 lbs as my bogey for the both tires when airing up for pre-ride on both tires (I'm not to picky)...then a few taps to let some air out on the front and I'm good to go.....but I'm always lower on the front than the rear. I tried going lower on the rear....but I just got aggravated when climbing as it seemed I was dragging my arse the whole way up.
Any less than 25 psi on the front and it gets too squirley for me when cornering....but I suspect that's because of the crazy sidewall knobs found on the wierwolf which are folding all over the place....prolly could get away with lower psi on another tire in the front. I'm 145 drippin wet, figure another 10 lbs for gear to put me at 155 riding weight.....add another three lbs if I've been drinkin' beer all week.
I came running down the hall one evening, wondering why I heard a shotgun blast from my roomie room? I kicked open the door half expecting to find some horrible scene and instead startled him for the 2nd time in 10 secs. He was sitting on his bed, scratching his ears from the ringing of the blast in a 15 x 20 ft room, wondering if he needed to wipe. He had been changing a tube in preperation for tomorrows ride when it blew while airing it up.

I had a Rampage blow off the rim while airing it up on my work bench. I was using an air compressor and had it at 40 PSI full of home brew. Sealant is fun to get of walls, tools and out of you hair!
