i love specialized bikes...huge fan i have always ridden them, but theyre a little out of my price range i think...i rode some downhill in snowshoe WV last year and loved it,, and i had ridden my friends back up kona stinky, which was a great bike but i hear kona's frames have a tendency to crack and they dont stand behindthem....so im currently looking at like an 05 norco since ive heard nothing but good things about them when it comes to downhill, and if you know anyone looking to sell let me know btw i live in VA/Boston and would love to not pay shipping haha
ummm im trying to get a bike by may so ive got plenty of time to look...im looking for around 500-800 and upgrading components over summer....but if a great deal pops up ill spend out of tht price range
def go used then, stinky's and 7points are normally pretty cheap and good beginner frames that can be thrashed on and wont die, check the classifieds here, on pinkbike, and on ridemonkey, also try your local craigslist, sometimes you can find a killer deal
Back to size, I say large. But... there's two ways to think about it. If your trails or riding tends to be high speed or riding that makes you pedal a lot, the large is ideal.
If you're riding a lot of tight, technical trails or doing a lot of jumping, sometimes a medium is better. I'm 6-2 and I've owned a medium DH bike, but sold it for a large later on and was glad to do so... I have a large now and I'm happier since I'm more stable at speed due to the longer wheelbase. I try to go fast!
Consider your riding when choosing size.
