ok i just want your opinon. is a marzocchi 888vf (with about 6.5 inches of travel) good on a trik session 77 for freeride and light dh? and possibly in the future some races that i can find?
should be fine. its not the greatest fork out there, but its not the worst. and its not exactly a race fork...but if your on a budget, you could probably make it work until you can get a better fork.
My friend that I ride with has one on his stinky and rode it all season at diablo. Might be a good idea to have a mechanic or just someone who knows bike suspension help you set it up. My buddy is over 200 lbs and couldn't get the last inch of travel out of the fork for some reason.
I don't think the fork has any external adjustments, so any changes that need to be made require taking the thing apart, at least as far as I know.
Been running one on my 77 for 2 years now. As stated before, not the best fork, but great bang for the buck. Also, have your LBS go through it to make sure the oil hight is correct. Mine was originally too low, witch resulted in some severe bottoming. Didd'nt realize this till I was half way down Schlayer. Bang! Bang! BANG!!!
like the guys above say, have it tuned. low or high oil height will drastically compromise travel and performance. zoke is kinda famous for incorrect oil levels from the factory. they also break in badly and soon will leave new oil lookin like motor oil. change it after the 1st 5 hours of use if not before then again every season at least once.
hesh: ill bet a beer yer pals fork is too full. the damper circut cant push enough oil through it to get all 170mm and hes gettin hydrolic lock out.
sweet guys thanks for the advice this helps me alot. now i dont need to worry because when i baught the fork the dude had the oil changed before e got it and also had extra heavy springs so ets super plush and has yet to bottom out
