Hmm, you're looking for places to ride in the "spring, summer, fall"? Diablo is open from early may to mid november. Think you're covered there. Also, NY is a huge state. What part of NY are you talking about? Diablo is closest to long island/NYC/westchester/southwest NY state, but if you're upstate, plattekill, whiteface, highland, hunter, catamount, or jiminy may be closer to you.
If you're talking about strictly non-lift-assisted riding, there is skyline drive in NY which has some decent natural DH runs that can be shuttled, and there is some cool natural and man-made freeride stuff at sprain ridge park in yonkers. Highbridge park in washington heights (NYC) has dirt jumps, a pump track, one short DH/FR trail and a surprising amount of challenging XC riding. Cunningham park in queens has some very flat but fun XC and apparently also a very fun DJ line.
Hope that helps. If you can be more specific about your location and what you're looking to ride it'd be easier to give suggestions/recommendations.
ill be moving to rome ny and i dont mind driving for a day trip. i checked diablo and its 4 hrs rays is 4hrs. thanks ill have to check out all the ones you guys have givinin me so far.
Check out Bikerag, Crankfire, and Busted Spoke. They have info on most of the riding areas in the North East. Catamount is about 2-2 1/2 hours from Rome, and although they are just getting operations rolling, they'll have some fun stuff to offer next season.
Check out the NY forum on this site, try some regional searches for trails in nearby cities like Syracuse or Uitca. I know most of the big lift accessed stuff is along the eastern part of the state between the Adirondacks and the Catskills.
Hunter is a good sized mountain and has some good trails for beginner/intermediate DH available. There's also Jiminy Peak just over the Mass. border.
Come to Swain. Its smaller than diablo, or plattekille, but it has only been open for a season. Its an hour south of Rochester. For those who dont know, thats between Buffalo and syracuse. Its also close to letchworth state park. They have a lift, and its usually not too busy. Day passes are also something like 25 dollars.

ROME?? poor guy...i drove through there on my way to the adirondacks once.....there is nothing there.....a pretty cool lookin old train station but other than that there really isnt anything.....deserted completely.....
what i found amusing is that i was there in 1999 for woodstock and now ill be working on the afb the i partied on for three days. its all good most places to ride that you guys gave me are only 3 to 4 hours away so im not worried about the drive unless a 10+ hours that it would take me before.
Quite an interesting area actually... many developments in RADAR and long range communication took place at the Air Force base.
Local Legend has it that some time after the RADAR development site was decommissioned some local plumber went looking for a cheap source of copper tubing. He cracked open an old cooling system to scavenge some copper pipe and let loose a 9 million gallon PCB oil spill. :madman:
nice i guess if i see someone with three hands ill understand why if you guy need help on buckhill rd i may be able to dig and build. i not positive i got to get my life in order after i get there but if i can id love too.
