I know several guys on the RPM Yeti and Yeti factory team here in CO who were riding them last summer. They all loved the geometry and cornering. I know several guys mentioned having both 303s and using them for specific courses.
I think the retail was going to be around $4500 or something, pretty darn good for a full DH race bike.
I just got the info 2570$ MSRP for the frame only. Relased late feb/early march.
I'm so stoked as it's around 500less than the morewood and a bit less than the commencal.
Have you ridden both or do you base your opinion on "pinkbike liking"?
They are different bikes. From what I've seen on interbike comments it is to be more flickable. It's also lighter. I'm a fairly light rider and no matter how much I train at the gym I gain weight very slow so a 13lbs frame is a bit of a problem.
Also I think that 303 and some other full blown wc racers are overkill and unneded on local trails. The extra weight of the old 303 would probably wouldn't be as noticable on a steep, bumpy track or anywhere where you don't have to be as active on the bike but in places where you do have to hop over stuff and need the extra agility in terms of suspension and weight it should be a great bike.
If I'm not wrong the some of the yeti guys rode it at Bromont WC and they probably had the choice (as I think Gwin rode the old 303) so it has to have some advantage over the old 303
The Factory Team was riding both throughout the year, and had good results with both.
The 303 was used on some of the rougher courses like MSA and Schaldming and the 303 rdh was used at Canberra and Bromont.
I don't think the 303 will be disappearing any time soon, it is such a solid bike and looks killer, the RDH is a little simpler, maybe lighter.
