If you thought that just fixing your license plate cover was good enough watch this. You can no longer have your bikes or bike rack on the back of your vehicle.
holy. How the hell am I supposed to carry my bike now? Move my plate to my carrier and leave it down all the time and $142 for the violation. dang. I wish our gov't would fund the police a little better.
Any time you enact more laws, rules and regulations, your rights and your freedoms get eroded and the USA gets closer to a police/socialist state. Next thing you know, You'll get cited because your bicycle sitting in the rack blocks the camera's view of your license plate. Of course, if you didn't have so many jerks driving around running red lights and speeding, you would have never got the cameras to capture the violators, who in turn created the need for designing traffic cameras.
What the F*** are you supposed to do then? Be nice if they offered a solution to the problem, rather than just say "you're boned". But then they couldn't rip us off, could they.
I'm so mad about this...I don't even know what to say...

Red Dawn Mutha F'ers . . . Im taking Jennifer Grey with me up to the hills and setting up camp. I'm thinking something like Candy Mountain with some good sustainable defenses.
Let's just hope the Cubans and Russians don't come in unannounced and try to overthrow the US.
I see a lot of similar rear racks used to hold wheelchairs and Rascals. Let's hope they ticket one of those people, and then this becomes a violation of the Disabilities Act. Paging the ACLU.
I think that is already the case. The video shows a woman with her bike rack covering her license plate and getting cited. I am sure that had her bike been on there she would still have been cited.
Sucks. I get much better mileage with my bike on the back and don't have to worry about running them under my car port. Only real option is to place my licenses on the rack and be sure to include the light on it too. Cheaper than a new roof rack.

Oh, it has NOTHING to do with that. They couldn't give a **** about public safety. It has EVERYTHING to do with getting more of your money through ticketing.
A friend on mine got pulled over on his bike two nights ago because his blinky was on his backpack not his bike. The cop let him go with a warning Fing Dck. He just wanted to run his ID and annoy him. Three months ago same friend was pulled over for not wearing a helmet just riding down to the corner. Last I checked its not against the law, so he took the cops badge # and filed a harassment complaint but nothing ever came of it.

Most of those come with a license plate holder and a light. I thought about moving my plate to the rack but then there will be no light so screwed again.

I was just wondering the exact same thing. Does that apply to the handicapped too? If not then its a case of discrimination if they don;t get ticketed for their go-chair racks and cyclists do.

Yup, the state has a huge deficit, and the only way they are going to make money is through tickets. Its become the mainstay trick of politicians, "I promise not to raise your taxes!" but they are sure as hell going to get the money from somewhere, like speed/red light camera's, and now this stupid license plate law.
I say raise my frigging taxes and leave our rights and freedoms intact please.
carry some $20's and give em to the cop...not to bribe him, but so he can goto Kinko's and print out resumes. I would hate to be a cop doing that crap. Most cops are decent people, and they are being forced to be the jackbooted brownshirts for our new fascist state.
Too many cops and too many laws makes for too many outlaws. Do you resolve to ban politicians and lawmakers too? You can't count on any government or it's agencies to keep it's people happy when the people wish to fight to remain ungoverned and free.

Yeah, it must suck, but they could quit.
I left my previous job when I saw some unethical stuff going down.
Sorry, no sympathy. And my Grandfather and Mother were Police (NYPD and Deputy Sheriff respectively), so I'm not anti-cop.
