I am trying to lighten up my Faith, but here in Japan there isnt`t much selection for rear axles. I know about Azonics Recoil axles rumored at 80 grms... but in my search I came across SunRingle Stiffy axle, and Im still chasing down info on Hadley axles. I also read some where about replacement axles for Intense but I am not sure on the make.
Anyone know which axle is the best bang for the buck?
My Faith, large frame, is under 43lbs. I don't think that's a ton. I could drop another pound with lighter wheels (currently ADDs), seat post, and an integrated stem.
I just got my Hadley Axle from Balleracing.com as suggested by Christaan. It is sweet, a machined masterpiece, and very light at 75g. I would have to say this is the nicest 150 X 12mm axle I've ever seen. The price is right too. What more could you ask for??? Thanks Christaan for pointing me in the right direction.
And it's only $17, opposed to the $60 Hadley, and it's the same quality Alu, and it's much cleaner looking.
Very good quality. Santa sells them as replacements for the VP Free, but they should fit any bike with a 12mm x 150 spacing. With a few washers it will fit 135 spacing nicely too (as pictured).
The Faith has 170 mm rear axle width (including drop out tabs). The Hadley schematics for the 183mm Axle says that it fits a Maximum width of 165mm.
Think it will be ok?
Could you measure the length of the axle, excluding the flange? Does that make sense? I want to see if it will fit my Glory. Dont want it to come up short.
